Reckonable Emoluments for Retiring Pension


The reckonable emoluments for retiring pension shall comprise pay including rank pay, stagnation increment and NPA, if any, drawn during the last 10 months.

With effect from 1.4.2004, DA equal to 50% of the existing basic pay shall be merged with the basic pay which would be counted for retirement benefits.

Calculation of Retirng Pension


The amount of retiring pension for 33 years of qualifying service shall be calculated at 50% of average reckonable emoluments drawn during last 10 months of the service. For lesser period of qualifying service, the amount of pension shall be reduced proportionately.Model Calculation

Note: - The Retiring Pension of an officer of the rank of Lt. Col. (TS), Brigadier or Major General shall not be less than the pension which would have been admissible to him as a Major, Colonel or Brigadier as the case may be, had he not been promoted to the higher rank.

Minimum Pension


W.E.F.1-1-96, minimum retiring pension is 1275/- PM

Maximum Pension


Maximum pension is Rs. 15000/- P.M. For example a General getting Rs. 30000/- pay will be entitled for Rs. 15000/- P.M. pension for 33 Years of qualifying service. For less than 33 Yrs of qualifying service, the maximum pension will be proportionately reduced.
